Moors and Christians in València 2026: the 21st Entrada on Friday 9 October at 17:00 and a free Medieval Market in the Turia Gardens until 13 October.
The Moors and Christians (Moros y Cristianos) festival in València 2026 brings parades to the historic centre, with the 21st Entrada on Friday 9 October at 17:00, and a free Medieval Market in the Turia Gardens until 13 October.
Which Moors and Christians events are still on, and which have been suspended?
- Friday 2 October: Entraeta Festera (opening parade), suspended.
- Saturday 3 October: Children's Entrada at 17:00 and Embajadas de la Conquista (the Embassies of the Conquest) at 20:00, awaiting a decision.
- Sunday 4 October: Alardo (arquebus parade), suspended.
On 1 October the Valencian Federation of Moors and Christians (FeVaMiC), which organises the parades, suspended the arquebus acts and the Alardo planned for 2 to 4 October because of adverse weather. On 2 October it also suspended the Entraeta Festera because of the orange alert and said it would wait as long as possible before deciding on the Children's Entrada, from the Tossal square to the Furs square, and on the Embassies of the Conquest, performed in that square next to the Torres de Serranos. FeVaMiC will post updates on its official channels.
What time is the 21st Moors and Christians Entrada on 9 October and where does it go?
The Entrada starts at 17:00 in the Glorieta gardens and runs along Calle de la Paz, Poeta Querol, Calle de las Barcas, the Ayuntamiento square and Avenida del Marqués de Sotelo, ending at Calle de Xàtiva, opposite the Estación del Norte and the bullring. The traditional Bajada de Gloria takes place before it.
In 2026 representatives of 11 towns hit by the floods of October 2024 take part in the parade: Catarroja, Massanassa, Benetússer, Aldaia, Sedaví, Paiporta, Alaquàs, Quart, Manises, Riba-roja and Chella. On the same Friday, the Day of the Valencian Community, there are the Civic Procession, a Te Deum, a flower offering to Jaume I and a mascletà firecracker display (all the events of 9 October).
What is represented in the Moors and Christians of València?
Two sides, Moorish and Christian, march with their squads and music to recreate the historical battles that give the fiesta its meaning. The Embassies are a theatrical performance of the surrender of València to the troops of Jaume I. FeVaMiC groups 37 festive associations.
When does the Medieval Market in the Turia Gardens open, how much does it cost and how do you get there?
The market fills the Turia riverbed between the Puente de la Exposición and the Puente de las Flores and is open from 2 to 13 October, from 10:30 to 00:00. Entry is free.
It is organised by FeVaMiC and Balconet, a thematic-markets operator. It brings together more than 50 craft and food stalls, live trades such as ceramics, leather, wood and forging, strolling musicians and jesters, fire shows, theatre, dances and workshops for children. The medieval taverns serve mead, grilled meats and roasted nuts.
You can get there by metro (Alameda stop; lines L5, L7 and L9) or by bus (6, 11, 16, 26, 28, 94, 95 and C2). There is more about the park in the guide to Valencia's gardens and parks.
What else is there to do in València in the week of 9 October?
The Reial Senyera and the sword of Jaume I are on show from 6 to 8 October in the Salón de Cristal of the City Hall (La Nostra Senyera). On the eve, 8 October, there is music, Valencian dances and fireworks (eve of 9 October). To plan the long weekend, the long-weekend guide for 9 October and the festivals agenda gather the rest of the plans.
