Rembrandt prints exhibition at CaixaForum València from 2 October 2026 to 7 February 2027: 75 works from the British Museum, general admission 6 €.
The exhibition «Rembrandt. Un mundo en grabados» (Rembrandt: a world in prints) is on at CaixaForum València from 2 October 2026 to 7 February 2027, 10:00 to 20:00. It brings together 75 works from the British Museum, and general admission costs 6 €.
What is in the exhibition?
The show focuses on Rembrandt as a printmaker and draughtsman: 68 prints, one copper plate and six drawings, all from the British Museum collection, which co-organises it. CaixaForum València hosts its world premiere. Rembrandt is known above all for his paintings, but his etchings and drawings were central to his technical development. The curator is Olenka Horbatsch, assistant curator of Dutch, Flemish and German prints and drawings at the British Museum.
How is the exhibition laid out?
The route has six sections:
- Self-portraits, with pieces such as «Autorretrato apoyado sobre un pretil» (Self-portrait leaning on a stone sill, 1639).
- Portraits of priests, merchants and doctors he knew, not royalty.
- Rembrandt's women, where his wife Saskia van Uylenburgh often appears.
- Drawing from life.
- Landscape and nature: scenes of his own country around Amsterdam, since he never travelled to southern Europe; among them «Los tres árboles» (The Three Trees, 1643).
- Bible stories.
What visitor resources are there?
Three tactile tables along the route let you try some of Rembrandt's techniques by sight and touch, and there are also four audiovisuals and an audio guide.
Opening hours, price and getting there
It opens from 10:00 to 20:00. General admission costs 6 €, with a 50% discount for València Tourist Card holders. CaixaForum is at Carrer d'Eduardo Primo Yúfera, 1, in the City of Arts and Alameda area. Metro line L10 and buses 15, 19, 35, 92, 93, 94 and 95 stop nearby.
