Titaguas Patron Saint Festival
The festival runs from 2 to 6 September in Titaguas. It includes the descent and ascent of the Virgin, the Mojiganga, and programming for all ages, with gatherings and dancing.
Titaguas is a village of barely five hundred residents high in the Serranía, and its fiestas patronales — from 2 to 6 September, in honour of Jesús Nazareno and the Virgen del Remedio — multiply that population several times over with people who return just for these days.
What happens on those days
The programme mixes the religious and the festive without a break: a procession carrying the Virgin down and back up, the Mojiganga — a popular theatrical performance full of humour and costume —, a tribute to the town's elders in the square, communal meals and evening verbenas. It's the kind of fiesta made for the village itself, not for tourists, and that's exactly why it's worth it if you're after something different from the capital's big showpiece events.
How to get there
Titaguas is a little over an hour from Valencia city, inland in the Los Serranos comarca, at more than 800 metres of altitude. There's no practical alternative to driving for these dates: public transport to inland villages is scarce and the fiestas don't change that timetable. Plan the route ahead if travelling at night, as these are mountain roads.
Before you go
It's a popular, free-access fiesta, organised by the town council and the local peñas, with no ticket or booking needed. If you like inland Valencian villages, the calendar of fiestas in the Comunitat Valenciana gathers the rest of the year's key dates.
